Erosion is one of the major problems in many industrial processes, and in particular, in heat exchangers. The effects of flow velocity and sand particle size on the rate of erosion in a typical shell‐and‐tube heat exchanger were investigated numerically using the Lagrangian particle‐tracking method. Erosion and penetration rates were obtained for sand particles of diameters ranging from 10 to 500 µm and for inlet flow velocities ranging from 0.197 to 2.95 m/s. A flow visualization experiment was conducted with the objective of verifying the accuracy of the continuous phase calculation procedure. Comparison with available experimental data of penetration rates was also conducted. These comparisons resulted in a good agreement. The results show that the location and number of eroded tubes depend mainly on the particle size and velocity magnitude at the header inlet. The rate of erosion depends exponentially on the velocity. The particle size shows negligible effect on the erosion rate at high velocity values and the large‐size particles show less erosion rates compared to the small‐size particles at low values of inlet flow velocities. The results indicated that the erosion and penetration rates are insignificant at the lower end of the velocity range. However, these rates were found to increase continuously with the increase of the inlet flow velocity for all particle sizes. A method to design a corrugated optical waveguide filter by modulating the corrugation width profile is proposed. This method is based on combined applications of the Fourier transformation and the F-matrix formalism. The method achieves the spatial profile of the corrugation width required to design a filter with any specified spectral profile of the reflection coefficient. The idea of the technique is that the spatial variation of the effective refractive index can be transformed, with the help of the F-matrix formalism, to variation of the corrugation width while maintaining a constant amplitude of the refractive index variation. Two examples are given applying the technique to the design of optical waveguide filters with reflectivity profiles of two- and four-rejection bands.  相似文献

The vibrations of a viscoelastic plate lying on an elastic liquid base subjected to pulse loading have been studied theoretically and experimentally. The effect of the variable depth of the reservoir, plate thickness, and strain relaxation time on the value of the plate vibration amplitude and the length and curvature of the flexural gravity wave profile are analyzed. Mixed-metal sulfido cluster [(PdCl2)(Cp*Ir)23-S)2] (Cp*=η5-C5Me5) dissolved in CH2Cl2 reacted with two equivalent of L (L=nicotinamide, isonicotinamide, or N-methylnicotinamide) in the presence of AgBF4 to give the cationic clusters [(PdL2)(Cp*Ir)23-S)2][BF4]2. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies of these products have disclosed that in the solid state the PdIr2S2 cores are self-assembled to form one-dimensional chains through the intermolecular hydrogen-bonding between the amide groups for L=nicotinamide or two-dimensional sheets via the hydrogen-bonding between the amide groups and the BF4 anions for L=isonicotinamide, whereas no organization of the cluster cores is observed for L=N-methylnicotinamide.  相似文献

The low‐temperature reduction of N2O plays a significant role for solving the growing environmental and health issues caused by emission of this greenhouse gas. The aim of this study is to investigate the possible reaction pathways for the reduction of N2O by CO or SO2 molecule over Si‐doped boron nitride nanosheet (Si‐BNNS). According to our results, a B or N‐vacancy defect in BN sheet could be able to greatly stabilize the single Si adatom. The relatively large diffusion barrier for the Si atom over the defective BN sheet also indicates Si‐BNNS is stable enough to be utilized in catalytic reduction of N2O. The large charge‐transfer from the surface to N2O leads to the spontaneous dissociation of this molecule into N2 molecule and an activated oxygen atom (Oads). The Oads moiety is then eliminated by CO or SO2 molecule. The calculated activation energies and reaction energies reveal that the Si atom located on top of the B‐vacancy site has a large catalytic activity toward the reduction of N2O by CO or SO2.  相似文献

A review on developments of liquid membranes (LMs) in the field of gas and vapor separation of the last 16 years is presented. Liquid membrane configurations employing supports, i.e. immobilized, supported and contained liquid membranes are focussed and detailed information on the respective materials, i.e. supports (supplier, type, thickness, pore width, porosity, tortuosity), liquids and carriers, are presented together with their specific separation tasks. Performance of different LMs in terms of permeability and selectivity as well as stability (duration of testing, applied differential pressures) are compared and discussed. 利用量子理论中基于Green函数的tight-binding方法,对pyrene分子的电子传导和电子流分布进行了理论研究。在考虑到界面耦合和Hopping积分的情况下,得出了电子透射谱和流分布的模拟结果。结果显示透射与电子的能量紧密相关;谱的振荡特征是能级量子化的结果;流分布有着特定的方向,并且在每一个原子点上符合Kirchhoff量子流守恒定律。另外还发现了桥接pyrene分子的正负能开关特性。  相似文献
